ABOUT HER
Dr. Peggy Semingson is an associate professor of TESOL in the Department of Linguistics and TESOL at The University of Texas at Arlington.
Peggy’s research areas focus on two primary areas of inquiry. Her first area of research is studying special populations in literacy such as students who face challenges in reading and bilingual learners.
Second, she has a longstanding area of scholarship surrounding online education. As an integrated scholar, this line of research informs both her teaching and service. This area also encompasses the study of multimodal and digital learning, including socially-distributed knowledge sharing that takes place online, distributed cognition, and video-mediated (e.g., YouTube) discussion and dialogue. Peggy’s longstanding education-focused YouTube channel has over two million views of original video content and over 5,000 subscribers.
