When it comes to all-star destinations for a date night, Arlington, TX scores big. While there’s nothing wrong with a dinner and a movie or going to see a game, sometimes you want to explore something new and different. If you’re looking for some unique and innovative ways to spend some time together that may not be in your playbook, we have your bases covered for Valentine’s Day or any time – whether you chose to be out and about in the community or date night at home!

LUNCH AND LEARN

Borrowing the idea from work, a “Lunch and Learn” is an effective multitasking option to spend some-much needed time together during the day while learning something new. Head Downtown to the Arlington Museum of Art to check out Vivian Maier: The Color Works and Street Encounters (on exhibit until Feb. 22). Ready to explore a little nature? The current exhibit at the River Legacy Living Nature CenterThe Art and Science of Arachnids, gets up close and personal with the largest arachnid display in North America. But if you prefer to stay indoors or closer to home, that doesn’t mean you can’t discover something new! Take your relationship to a new frontier with the UTA Planetarium, which is hosting online field trips and weekly live star streams.

SHOW IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT

Perhaps you’re ready to get “hands-on” with your loved one? Then explore your relationship with creativity guided by local artists. Board and Brush Arlington provides daily, evening and weekend sessions for you to build and paint signs, home goods, and more items that are seasonal and personalized to you and your loved one. If you prefer to do something from home, in addition to their in-studio classes, Busy Bee Workshops offers at-home kits (for pickup and delivery) packed with everything you need to enjoy an art-filled opp together. If you’re ready to really mix-it up, Catalyst Creative Arts provides friendly, knowledgeable instruction plus all the supplies to get creative in many forms including leatherwork, glass, silk, resin and more. Just for Valentine’s Day, Catalyst has partnered up with neighbors Inspirations Catering and Gourmet Foods and Legal Draft Beer for a special two-part charcuterie board making and tasting workshop on Feb. 13.

LOVE LESSONS

Ready for something longer-lasting than one night out on the town? Think about something you’ve always wanted to do, and sign up to take weekly classes together. How about learning to ride a horse? Located on the historic Gibbins Homestead in North Arlington, Smallside Equestrian is the area’s premiere horseback riding lesson facility. Prefer both feet on the ground? Practice your swing together at the Arlington Golf Center or one of the many other Arlington golf courses. If you’re more apt to play a song than play a game of golf, then the Levitt Pavilion, in cooperation with the University of Texas at Arlington, is streaming guitar lessons paired with wine online for free, now through February.

WILD, CRAZY LOVE

Feel like doing something crazy and out of the norm? There’s a lot of ways to get wild with your loved one in Arlington! Get on target (or at least get out some aggression) at Lone Star Axe Throwing in Urban Union, then walk to any of the nearby hotspots to cool down with something good to drink. If you ever wished to climb to the top of the mountain to scream how much you love them, then DynoRock Indoor Rock Climbing Center, also in Urban Union, gives you everything you need to proclaim it loud and proud! If you have the need for speed, race over to K1 Speed: Indoor Kart Racing for a few rounds of electric go-kart racing (certain to make you feel like a kid).

No matter how you choose to spend your time, just make sure to do it together. And often!
